Phibsborough does have a few other pubs dotted around but you're probably better off coming here from town. Pic: Shutterstock Organisers at the pub said about the upcoming event: 'We provide everything to break the ice, so you have nothing to worry about, just come along on the night, come alone or bring your wing-man/wing-woman. In terms of location, it's about a 20min walk from O'Connell Street but if you don't know the area then it'd be wiser to jump in a taxi and spend a couple of euro getting there. Exhilarating DJ music and fun games will be included on the night for the visiting ladies and gents.

They do show a lot of different sporting events here too, so definitely worth going for the GAA or Prem League. And then there was McGowan’s, where young love often bloomed especially after a few drinks. It was where the Johnny Cash Appreciation Society was in situ on a Sunday night. I don't think i ever had food here so I couldn't comment on that. Phibsboro was where the cool kids hung out, with an ice rink, a surfeit of charity shops and good pubs like The Hut. The music is mainly classic pop so it's something that everyone can deal with. The drinks are fairly well priced for Dublin, yet stupidly overpriced if you're coming from elsewhere but it's worth the outlay. I always loved a Thursday or Sunday night as they had decent crowds but it wasn't jammers like on a Friday or Saturday, although when there is a GAA game on or anything to draw the country folk up to Dublin, you'll find this place is absolutely bananas afterwards. It's pretty well known as a popular place amongst the nurses from the nearby hospitals and the Gardai, so I also attracts quite a few students, yet very few tourists due to it's location. I used to live opposite here and frequented it 3 or 4 times a week. If you're in a large group then it's probably a good idea to split up before attempting to enter. As mentioned by others, this place has a bit of a reputation for not letting people in or booting them out of the door for being a bit rowdy.
